Right guys.. I'm having a bit of a mental block right now...

I have recently received a few enquiries from friends about having portfolio shoots. They basically want a few decent shots of themselves, and have asked me, as they know I do a bit of photography.

Now, I dont expect my results will be good enough to charge money for, so have agreed to do the shoots on a time for images basis. My only problem is... WHERE??

I have used a few studios in the past, but to be honest, I dont want to pay for studio hire for these shoots, and nor do the models, they are for experience and a bit of fun!

So... I am basically looking for a cheap or free option for a location... and was thinking that while the weather is ok, somewhere outdoors might be ok.

The type of place I am looking for is a secluded bit of woodland, a parkland, a field of rape in flower, a waterfall, a lake, a river etc... or maybe an old building, a barn, some ruins, or an area with some good looking graffiti... anything to make an interesting backdrop really.

My problem is, I dont know the area around me that well, and havent come across anything suitable nearby. Now, there must be something, I just havent found it yet... So I have come to you guys to ask for some ideas...

Do you know of anywhere suitable, within a 25 mile radius or so of Birmingham? I would also consider anything anywhere in the west midlands, including wolverhampton, stourbridge, dudley, worcester, or even staffordshire.

If you know anywhere or have used anywhere yourself, please let me know ASAP, as I need to get these shoots done!

Specific location information can be sent via PM if you dont want to post it. Pictures also appreciated for information.. or web links!

THANKS!!!!

Any abandoned buildings or empty car parks nearby?

You could also ask the owners of any local stables or farms in the area as they
will usually be free of any cars or roads & other clutter (just dont get any cows in the shots).

The only abandoned buildings nearby are fenced off unfortunately, and whilst this isnt a problem for Urbex, taking a model wearing heels, or maybe even lingerie, may not be a great idea! I would prefer somewhere we dont have to break into too!

I was really looking for somebody who knew the area.. and had either used locations before and could recommend them, or knew somebody who owned a farm or an old warehouse or stables (or anything really) who might be willing to let it be used?

Also, just out of curiosity... what problems have other people come across when being stumbled upon by passers by?
