I'm doing actor headshots next week in Glasgow and would like to find a variety of locations that will look good OoF! Somewhere not too busy where I can put up a flash/brolly on a stand. Somewhere nearer the east end of the city would be good. TIA!

I think the green would be a great place to start. A good variety of shapes/light surrounding the park and its quiet.

Well, you've got the Necropolis, The Barras, Glasgow Green etc, or, if you can get permission, the old fishmarket in The Briggait is now used as artists' space and has some nice old period interior features still in place.

sounds good - I don't really know Glasgow - but the actress I'm working with does - so if I have the names - she'll know where they are!

The "Bridge of Sighs", between the Cathedral and Necropolis might be worth considering too

I'd class those as North of Glasgow (as well as not being IN Glasgow)

Some nice locations up that way once you're nearing the Trossachs etc but I'd imagine too far away.

yes you are right...but i didnt think airdrie etc were so salubrious

i am dossing around here...sorry

I'll maybe give easterhouse a miss but all the rest sounds promising - thanks. I have about two hours so I'll see how many locations I can do.

Any ideas if it happens to be a wet day?

Had a great shoot today - we went to Alexandra Park - at least I think that's what it was called - you don't see much of the b/g anyway as I was shooting almost wide open. Didn't have a lot of time but 150+ keepers I think - so I'm happy :) Weather was perfect too.

All suggested locations noted for the future though. Thanks.

The eastend of Glesga is great for photographic locations.

I would take a walk about and see what catches your eye.

Enjoy!

Eh, scrap that... just read your last post awp!

All well...

Would this be to distracting to have in the back ground?

Stuart

Thanks - I'll maybe show you some of the shots and you'll see what caught my eye - wisnae the location! ;)

errr.. yes Stuart - just a tad distracting! :)

no problem - I feel guilty that in the end I didn't use any of the suggestions - just didn't get the time. Still a great shoot though.

Do you know merchant city cameras? (I bet you do! :D)

Walk out of there shop turn left now basically its on the other side of the building at the end of the street. so walk into TJ huse on Argle street and there is an exit at the far end of the shop and its on your Left hand side.

If your planning on taking your D3 I would not go alone.

And no showing off fancy ISO ratings and full fame images. I was struggling to fit all of this into a 85mm at ISO 400.
