Taking a trip to Edinburgh tomorrow for other reasons but while there going to hopefuly shoot the rail bridge. I know where it is before the funny comments are posted just hoped some local knowledge could point me to exact locations North or South for some great shots of both the rail bridge and along the Firth from water level. Time for shooting will probably be around 14:00 - 15:30, would make sense to hang around until sunset but have other things on later so will have to leave no later than 15:30

Can anyone suggest locations or even better postcodes to help me prep?

Cheers in advance

Mike

You could also try Queensferry, on the south side. Follow the road into Queensferry until you are under the rail bridge. Just after the bridge is a minor road which goes off to the left and parallels the Firth for about half a mile towards Long Craig Pier. I think there is probably enough room to park for a while at the end of the pier. Or you could park just west of the bridge and walk down the minor road.

The sun sets just gone 6:30pm tomorrow.

By the way there is a nice hostelry under the rail bridge at Queensferry.

North Queensferry - Mount Hooley Crescent.

I grew up there - terrific view

Go a bit further up the hill from Mt Hooly Cres under the Rail Bridge and turn right into Carlingnose Point, go uphill as far as you can go till you reach the WW2 Gun Emplacements and park your car. Walk forward as far as you can, a couple are building a house up there but they are ok about you taking a few pictures. This is the view, zoom in or out to your own taste.
You can also stand on top of the Gun Emplacements. PS. The workers are finished now, no more white covers on the bridge.

I'd suggest somewhere in South Queensferry - which keeps you on the Edinburgh side of the Firth.

I don't think you could see the FRB from Dalgety Bay beach? Maybe from Donibristle, or St Davids. Going from memory here, and a quick look at GM.
