Hi

as per my comments in another thread, I am in London most of W/C 8th December 2008 and wanted to take the evenings to take some photos (on a course during the day)

am thinking cliche areas are the order of the day, so after some suggestions of where to go.... at the most I guess I have Tues-Thurs nights available. So far on my hit list is

*Canary Wharf
*Somewhere to get a view of the O2 - any recommendations?
*That cliche shot of St Pauls with the pathways in front of you (can anyone tell me where that is!)
*Along the Bank- Houses of Parliament, London Eye etc.

.... if anyone has any other good recommendations then I'd be pleased to hear them also - might as well occupy my evenings than sit in a hotel room on my own :-/

Tower Bridge and surrounding area.

I think the shot of St Pauls is from the Tate Modern

Yeah or you could take photos of something different.

Everyone takes the same photos, it's so boring. And what's the point of taking photos of something that's been done a million times before. You can't possibly take an original photo of the London Eye or in fact any landmarks in London anymore.

You could try and get something to do with the people of London. Try and get some of the culture and essence of the city...

suggestions???? - ive been to london many times and have got all of the usual shots in daylight form, but the cliche shots at night are always impressive no matter how many times you see them.... is the lloyds building more left-field? - love that building, only "found" it by chance when walking from the tube once - i bet that looks good at night?

open to any suggestions though....got a good shot from I think its called jubilee bridge last time i was there just by wandering round - was knackered after id finished and had only been out 2 hours.... which reminds me, must change out of work shoes next time:suspect:

i'm always a bit wary of them kind of shots... who knows what kind of nutter you may be picturing who may wanna beat your head in for the pleasure :help:

although, i did see dermot o'leary last time walking down Tottenham Court Road - but unfortunately my lens cap was on

If you want cliches, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden [will be fabulous, xmas lights will be there and always pretty stunning], Regent Street/Oxford St, for more unusual xmas lights, try Carnaby Street. Traf Square of course and theatre land round shaftsbury ave will get you both street lights and people.
