Went out during my lunch hour to see all this start from the Uni of London. Only had the compact with me, will have to wait until later to see if any pics were worth the effort.
First thoughts:
Bucket loads of photographers, one geezer in army khaki with an army helmet and a few leaves in it (for camoflage?). Any one from the forum there?
Loads of police, a bank of 'em on horses, then a rank of 'em shoulder to shoulder forcing spectators off the pavements down Gower St. I dodged into a stairway to avoid 'em. I'd judge there were about as many students as at the last protest. I expect it will heat up later on.

Walking back to work I spied a group of coppers with riot helmets/high viz returning to their vans parked down a side street. it amused me because amongs all the big, burly policemen was one tiny woman, didn't even come up to their shoulders in height. A sort of metropolitan terrier. Just made me think of Discworld's Watch with its disparate species of trolls, humans, werewolves, and dwaves. Gotta see the bright side.

I was working in town with all my gear on me but was busy all day shooting something else and didn't get a chance to get out and see what was going on with the protests. Saw the preperation along High Holborn on the way into town, looked like the police were intent on managing it all very carefully.

Dosen't suprise me to hear there were lots of photographers, these sort of things usually attract every journalist in London, plus plenty of wannabes and casual photographers.
