Been thinking of popping down there again, its been a really long time since last time I went, cant really remember what its like, Do you guys think the 70mm(effectively 105mm) end of my lens is enough?

70-300 was ok on a crop body... but a 400 would have been better..

Humm its that far huh, I had no idea..

Depends what you want to photograph really, a lot of the animals are really close and some come right up to you so your lens would be fine if not too long, but on the other hand somethings like the lions are a fair way off so the longer the better!

Take something to clean the glass, its bloody filthy and difficult to get shots through. Although, don't try to clean the inside, you might get into trouble.

Plus a big stick to beat all the kids and tourists off who want to get in your way just as the perfect shot comes into view :D

Monopod? :naughty:

Attempt #1 - Rubbish tbh, learned a bit though.

1- 70mm not nearly enough for proper shots like daugirdas said. :bonk:
2- Don't even bother shooting through their glass enclosures, no amount of cleaning will give you a reasonably clean shot, it is filthy and full of scratches, I could barely see through some of them...(should've tried cleaning the inside..:p )
3- Weather was pants..
4- On the plus side the zoo was empty, so I didnt have to poke anyone out of my way.

I shall try again with at least a 70-300 soon
