I have done a fair few 30 second exposures, is there a way to increase the exposure ie for night sky shots? once I have turned the dial to switch it to 30 seconds the next 1 after that is bulb and as far as I have noticed that does nothing.

Bulb is the one you want, not sure about your camera but once on bulb i turn the wheel to change the timing to put it simply.:)

Your best bet once in Bulb is to use either a Cable shutter release or a wireless shutter release, I have both, that way you can open the shutter for as long as you like, not sure what the time limits are, I think ive read 30 mins somewhere but i normally use anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes and both methods of shutter release work very well

On bulb setting the shutter remains open as long as you keep your finger on the shutter button. Best to use a cable or wireless release to avoid camera shake.

Edit :-As adrian says above.

Yes Bulb is the one you want because with this set and a cable release you can have the shutter open as along as you like. (hours if you like)

Yeah on a 300s cheers guys will give it a tinker with in a while

Remember though that with very long exposures you will increase sensor noise, that is why astro photographers take lots of shorter exposure shots and stack them to gther to give long exposures to avoid this problem.
