Someone locally is selling one. Supposedly he's owned it from new and barely used it as he purchased a 5DII not long after buying it. It's a late serial number of 286- so that would probably ring true.

The price is good, no bargain, but fine considering I won't have to pay postage and can get it there and then. He's selling it with a 28-135mm IS that he's not willing to split.

Is there anything I should look out for? I know about the mirror recall, but I don't mind having to send it off if need be, I can use that as a bargaining tool. ;)

What's this LCD issue I hear about occasionally?

LCD colourcast effects earlier serial numbers, dont let it bother you as all 5D screens compared to modern screens are rubbish. Its a great camera, enjoy it.

Well the body was as close to new as you could imagine. But unfortunatly as he wasn't willing to split it from the lens, and someone is going to give him the asking for it tomorrow morning, I came home empty handed. As I bought a 50L two weeks ago, I wasn't willing to spend another £800.
 
You could probably pick a 5D body up from a dealer for between £600-700 so this guy seens a bit expensive even if throwing in a ho-hum lens. At least you get a warranty from a dealer :D or maybe watch the classifieds here?
 
Indeed, that why I didn't go for it. The fact it's only got around 500 actuations was enough for me to travel 12 miles to go look at it (and actually try one).

One went on eBay last night for £640 that was mint, a late code and had 12 months warranty, so it wasn't a bargain.
 
He will be in touch tomorrow to make a deal because his "ask" deal "fell through" ;)
