looking for a microphone to use with a 5Dmkii

like the title says I'm after a microphone to use with a 5Dmkii but don't really know where to start. So I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice on what to go for and where to buy from?

After a lot of reading various fora I ended up with a Rode VideoMic. It does a good job, but it does look very fragile - definitely not the sort of thing you can just chuck in a bag.

I don't think there is one for all kinds of video work.
what is it your going to be filming? all kinds have different needs
