I've got a shot I want to set up for, however to get what I want I need the camera to be directly above the model looking straight down. A ladder isn't an option because of the composition.

The question; I have heavy duty stands and a weighted boom arm, but how do you attach the camera securely? I gather I need a plate on the bottom of the cam to attach the spigot to? This way the forces are spread across the base and not concentrated on the thread unlike if the spitot was just bolted directly on.

Can't seem to find anything that matches on WHE. Ideas?

Cheers.

Ah! Thanks HoppyUK. I didn't even think of unscrew my tripod head, the boom arm has a two size spigot so hopefully should fit fine!

depends.... can you get your boom arm perfectly horizontal? if so, a camera mounting plate like this should do, and slot it onto the light mounting spigot on the end:

if not, or for more flexibility, http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/item/MN155/ and some way to secure it to the spigot on your boom arm

or for the simplest setup, or to get around the spigot joining problem, the industry standard grip equipment, the super clamp and magic arm:
