Looking for good online reading material: ICC profiles and calibration.

I have to write a 500 word essay for Wedensday (26th May) on this and quite frankly I'm clueless and not really sure where to start looking online. I thought some of you might be able to point me to a good site or 2 where it explains stuff that my little brain can understand. Any links much appriciated. The following is the college brief I've been given:

Produce a written report (500 words) on the reasons for, and the professional necessity of colour calibration. You report should comprehensively cover, monitor calibration, printer calibration, software and hardware devices and an overview of ICC profiles connected with calibration.
