Any examples of nature, or better still bird shots taken with a 7D and the Sigma 150-500mm. The camera is on the cards shortly for an upgrade and the lens is a contender ( due to funds )against the Canon 100-400L. I say nature or bird shots as this will closely replicate conditions and camera settings that I will be using it for mostly. Not looking for comments on how good L glass is compared to Sigma just some hard evidence of what it can produce ;) Any input appreciated.

Got some shots from a 7D and the new 50-500mm OS lens I borrowed for a few days but bit pointless if money is the issue as the Sigma costs more or less the same as a 100-400mm I believe.

Tis a bit pointless Fred cos it is the Sigma 150-500 I am contemplating ;) and they are going for £633

I'll have a dig through my shots but I've not used it much for wildlife, it spends most of it's time pointing at fast moving metal stuff :)

I find it a very frustrating lens with a much higher bin level than the rest of my kit :(

BUT the fact that it does give me some very crisp nice shots would indicate it's my lack of long-lens technique that is the problem, not the glass :bonk:

I believe Martyarty's Kingfisher shots are taken using the combo you're looking at.

I use the 150-500, but with a 40d, so not nearly the crop-ability. I did have to return the first version, due to focussing issues, but the 2nd one is much better & sharper too.

It's obviously a lens which requires some compromise, ie. in low light, but OS works very well & with a 7d you'll hopefully be able to raise the iso without worrying too much. I'm almost certainly going to upgrade to a 7d myself for this very reason & better af for moving objects.

I've also gone through a bit of a learning curve, but I guess that would have been the case with any lens at 500mm. The lens is definately able to produce the goods & I'm getting more keepers as I improve with my use of it.

There's also a very large 150-500 thread on POTN, you'll find quite a lot of poor pics on there but some very good stuff too, particularly a guy called "gabezales" (I think), he uses a 7d too.

I have to say I was shocked when I heard there was another photography forum:suspect:, but I checked..........& it's true!:naughty:
