Beginner Looking into macro

Hi all
Only had my camera for a week ( Olympus OMD mk II) so I'm a bit green.
I'm trying to find out the best ways to acheive macro shots without buying an expensive lens.
I've got two macro extension rings a total of 26mm, I can reverse my 40 -150mm lens. All help but I not sure what to expect.
Can I increase the 26mm. If so how much?

Looking forward to the better weather so I can get out and try lots of things.

Don't be too diffident - look after the gear, but play around.

Macro lens extensions reduce the effective aperture - reduce the light getting in, proportionally to their extension.

To up your iso to compensate, if you're hand-holding, to give you a useable shutterspeed / aperture, will increase the granularity of the image that will gradually overtake any sharpness that you were hoping for. Many macro photographers have traditionally used extra lighting to work tripod-free, but of course that makes it more complex and more expensive!

But experiment with what you have to help learn your own floating boundaries.
