im looking into getting some lights, backdrops, textured rugs etc, to take to peoples houses and do inhouse shots..

anyone got any ideas on equipment they would recommend... i have a tight budget... so cheap stuff will be the key here... then from then i can build up to the more dearer gear.:bonk:

Check out the talk lighting section.. plenty of info on studio gear...

I'm doing a lot of mobile shoots at the moment and one thing to consider is how much of a bashing your kit will take. With the best will in the world putting stuff in and out of cars, getting into peoples houses and setting up etc does mean that the equipment gets a bit of a rough ride. Buying budget kit could simply mean you'll be replacing things rather more quickly than spending a bit more in the first place

but at the moment i will not get excessive use out of it... if anything maybes 2-3 times a month.

ive seen a few studio kits from jessops for £200 .... you think its worth getting something like this.

what do you guys have

I started with interfit but wasn't impressed with the quality or reliability. One head didn't work when it arrived, another head had a dodgy connection in the wiring, zip broke on the carry bag first time I used it etc. I flogged it all (after fixing the wiring!) and bought elinchrom fx400s. 18 months of abuse later they are going fine and all the cases etc look like new. The only problem was with a softbox which delaminated well out of warranty but The Flash Centre swopped it for a new one without a quibble
