Loose hotshoe on 1D MKII

Hi all.

My old mate Dave has just sold me his 1D MKII and the hotshoe is a bit loose.
Doesn't appear to cause an issue, yet, but it will probably get worse over time.

Can anyone recommend the best way to get this sorted?
Is it a send away job or something quite easy I could do myself?

You should be able to do it yourself, I remember seeing a tutorial on this recently, there are a couple of screws which are covered. Just take care with the microswitch at the left side.

Removing the cover is the part you need to know about now! Google might help.

Had loads of problems with mine, in the end Canon fixed it under warranty.
You can DIY, lift up the metal cover and slide it off, loosen the screws and dab loctite in the threads, this should do the trick.
