Hi,

How much of a real world difference is there between the 5D2 and the 7D at high iso's in low light?

I'm stuck between the 2 and cant make up my mind.

I cover a wide range of stuff including motorsports and theatre shows.

Cheers

Interesting comparisons. On face value of the sample shots the 7D looks the worse at lower ISO levels (compared to the 50D)

Looks like the 7d produces less noise accross the range when each camera generates jpegs but in Raw the 5DII comes into its own.

The link above is for in camera jpegs. there is a link to the processed raw versions near the top or here

Yep - that's what I thought.

7D generates less noise producing 'in camera' jpeg but 5DII produces less noise in raw.

I'd go with the 5D MK2 for less noise(theatere) , but the 7D would be better for motorsport.

^^^ Agree.

5D2 wins the sensor battle over the 7D in every which way, and by quite a margin. The pixels are twice the size.

7D wins the action camera award by an equally convincing measure.

1D4 comes close to the 5D2 and beats the 7D at everything, for a lot more money.
