Do any of you lovely TPers have any experience with these bags?.
Would the 400 f/2.8 with MKIII attached fit in one of these?

I want a good option for carrying the 400 2.8 as i will be doing more wildlife stuff and hopefully a few Mach Loop trips. As usually i sling it over my shoulder but this is only good on steady flat ground and if i lugged the peli case around i'd scatter any wildlife in a 5 mile radius and have a heart attack getting it up to the Mach Loop

Ta very much

Andy

I put my 400 2.8 in a Kinesis L622. Its an enormous bag - it takes D300 + 400 2.8 + 1.7x TC + hood (in shooting position) + beanbag on the top!

They do a slightly smaller one which may also work for you.

They arent cheap, have to be ordered from the US, and you need to order the rucksack straps and belt separately. Great bags though!

I don`t know anyone who uses one mate.

If I trek a long way with my big Siggy,I use a standard ex-army gortex rucksack.I attached a restraining strap to the inside of it and pack a couple of fleece towels to stop stuff banging about. Also it has the detachable side pockets and a large top pocket,so bags more room for anything you want to take.Works fine and at a fraction of the cost of a purpose built one.

I asked a similar question when I first got my long lens. The only long lens bag that I was actually able to handle prior to purchase was the Lowepro - It looked well made, the straps "worked" but capacity was too restrictive for my needs. I wanted to carry a spare body as well as a couple of spare lenses and the rest of the gubbins we think we need.) Your body/lens should fit OK in it.
I ended up buying a THG PR 600. Biggest waste of money ever. On paper the specification looks ideal, but design details and construction methods render it useless (for me). Have you checked out the type of bags that IanC_UK and Joe T use? Made in America (forget the brand name), they are much more money, but if it does the job well ...

Just as an update. I still cram my gear into a Lowepro phototrekker AWII. I may not have instant access to body with 600mm attached, but the kit is protected and I can carry it comfortably if I am walking a couple of miles.

Look in bargains and suppliers thread vis a vee the Gem case from Amazon.... I have one of these and it is a bute. very well made and padded and at a knockdown price.. Good Luck

Room for spare body, lenses, other stuff we carry and don`t use. Flask of coffee, water, food and other "I might need that" items......:D

Like Joe and Ian, I have the Kinesis version. I had a Kinesis and a Lowepro 600 to start with but sold the Lowepro to get another Kinesis. The Kinesis are lighter whilst appearing to be stronger with better padding....not the cheapest but definitely value for money.

Hi Guys i think i'll have a look at a Kinesis, maybe if anyone else wants one we could put in a group order to reduce the P+P costs?

Its not the p+p cost you have to watch out for its the VAT, TAX and parcelfarces excessive £13 ish clearance fees.
