A first for me I was looking for adders and disturbed this little guy.
I couldn't believe the change in colour when the light hit him in the second shot.
The reason for the title of lucky lizard is that when i was taking the first shot the lizard looked up and just out the picture a very large female adder came out from under a tree root. The lizard could have been only 4 inches away from the snake well in strike range. You can see the lizard looking straight at the snake in the first shot. I tried to get a wider shot with both in but i think the lizard had realised the danger and scuttled off sharpish. I think the Adder was still cold and had already fed because the snake then laid very flat on the banking to warm up.
