It seems a bit quiet on this forum about this camera which surprised me. I searched and didn't find any other threads.

Anyway, I found this article today: http://m.techradar.com/news/photogr...asonic-lx7-10-things-you-need-to-know-1089539

What are people's thoughts? There are so many great high end compacts out now, is this enough to steal a decent share of the market?

I would have liked a bigger sensor, then I would have considered it but I think there are too many other options I'd prefer off the specs alone. Ie X10, FX100, S100.

I'd be interested to hear what other people think???

I had an LX2 and thought it ok but it annoyed the hell out of me as it wouldn't take just RAW, only RAW+JPEG. I sold it and bought a LX5 and the IQ (IMVHO) isn't as good.

I was hoping for an improvement with the LX7 but I'm amazed that they're actually using a smaller chip. From what I've read, and I know it's early days and things may change, IQ is ho-hum.

Meanwhile... the high end "compact" has moved on and competitors offer products with larger sensors and what's reported to be better IQ. So, unless early reports are massively wrong, the LX7 looks like a shot in the foot.

The sensor is designed to work with the lens so the fact the lens is f1.4-2.3 and it's a mos sensor should mean very good iq and from images i have seen it looks impressive.
