M42 Helios-44M-4 lens on EOS 10D

Hey guys :)

Just got my first film camera the Canon Eos 10D and ordered a lens for it, the lens is a M42 Helios-44M-4 and I was wondering whether or not I will need an adaptor.

I'm really new to this whole thing so please don't be disrespectful as I'm just trying to get started.

If I do need an adaptor what type would it be?

Nice camera, wish I kept mine. Lots of cheap bayonet lenses are available too on ebay and gumtree.
 
Good Camera and Len's choice! The Adpators are a few quid on Ebay. I've shot with pretty much the same Setup-300D and 44M. And you can get some really nice results, if you don't mind manual focusing.
 
Glad to see it's a decent set up so that's one less thing to worry about.

Bit annoyed at myself however for just buying the lens then asking the serious questions but live and learn eh?

Now regarding the lens/adaptor etc. Due to the lens being mounted on the adaptor, then the adaptor being mounted to the camera body, I assume that I'm better off getting a metal rather than plastic adaptor for increased strength.. If this is right or wrong is another matter so please let me know :P
 
Ok thanks for that :) So will spending less on one affect anything then? As a lot of the £3-4 ones look exactly the same as the £5-10 ones.
