Mac not writing to PC any help please

My friend has just bought a MAC and is processing his images using CS4 but he tells me that he cannot get the images once processed to save on his Windows PC.
Someone has told him that he need a piece of software for his PC.....any ideas if this is correct and if so, the software he needs pllease.

see the thread about "formatting HDD to use Mac and PC". the drive format for one operating system is not compatible with the other without software on one machine or formatting the drive as FAT32 (not my personal recommendation).
 
How is he trying to "save on his Windows PC"?

Is he using an external drive or is he saving across the network?

An external drive will need to be formatted NTFS (as per the thread Neil mentions)

Across the network, nothing should be necessary except the appropriate permissions.
 
What format are they saving them as?
 
Neil - thanks a lot for the link I have passed the info. on and now waiting to see what he wants to do next.
Jason/Lewis - thanks for your input, I really dont know much more than in my initial post other than once he post processes iusing the MAC the files will not save on his pc hard drive.
He is not really into computers (like me....fine while they are working, but!!) so no doubt I will hear more from him soon.
