Mac OS X Lion & EOS Utility

Does anyone have any inside knowledge / contacts to tell me when we can expect EOS Utility to function under Mac OS X Lion. I am getting fed up with constantly taking card in and out to upload photos.

Is there any way to upload photos off EOS 550D without removing the card?

A quick google reveals 2.8.1 does work with Lion, but the newer versions don't.

Yeah - trouble is the version on the CD I have (with new EOS550D) is later than this & web updater tells me I have newer version than 2.8.1 & refuses to install older version over top of it. If I remove completely then updater recognises no previous version & won't install anything. Catch-22. Hence question about version for Lion.

I've never used the EOS utility for uploading photos. I always let iPhoto take care of it, I've never had any issues. Maybe someone else will know though.

Don't have iPhoto

didn't come installed on my MBP, but already had PSE9, so don't really need (or so I thought)
