Macbook 13"

Hi guys

I have been fortunate enough to be getting my own Mac 13" and it is arriving this Friday. I am used to macs due to uni, but have a couple of questions.

1. Can you get skins/covers for the monitor to customise/protect it, and where do you get them from?

2. I need a new external harddrive, and have previously used Lacie. Are most harddrives compatible with PC and Mac - Mac will be used out and about, and PC is at home. Will I be able to use the hardrive with both without any trouble?

In terms of external hard drives, most will work out of the box. If you have a PC one formatted in NTFS you can download a Mac driver to enable read/write access.

You can get decent protective covers from ebay for not much money at all..!

an external HDD is the same for both PC and Mac but you need to make sire that it is formatted in the correct format.

Windows cannot understand the Mac Journalled format and Mac can read but not write to an NTFS windows formatted drive.

If you get a drive from somewhere like ebuyer just format it on the Mac in Fat32 format using disk utility, this will allow you to use it on both systems.

There are other ways but they involve buying more software to do it...!
