Anyone done this?

I've got a 13" unibody macbook pro, and just had a 500gb Seagate 7200RPM drive delivered for it.

Anything I should watch out for, or it is a fairly straightforward.....unscrew back, swap drive, screw back on affair?

My friend did it when he saw the difference in boot speed between my 7200 drive and his 5200 drive. Afaik it was a very simple process so you should find it pretty pain free. He was doing it on a 17 though, but can't imagine there is a big difference between that and the 13?!

Cool, I've been building PCs since....there were PCs....so don't imagine it's too hard.....just slightly concerned Apple might have put some stupid proprietary screw-head in somewhere :)

Looking forward to putting win7 64 so I can use all 4GB of RAM, and upgrade to LR3 :)

Job done.....5 minutes, very easy :)

Well worth the upgrade, system is much snappier and Lightroom is much faster.

The 7200 drives don't take any more power then 5200 drives nowadays, not noticeable anyway.

Heat can be an issue - just keep the back open for the fan and don't have the laptop on your lap for long periods of time (as per any laptop really).

It's a little warmer but not ridiculously so...not really bothered about power drain but I would be surprised if there's a big difference.

Warranty should be fine, HDD is a user-servicable component, easy job.

Only bit that caught me out was needing a torx bit to move the HDD caddy/frame from the existing drive onto the new one. Other than that it's dead simple.
