Macbook won't detect display!

Man this is really doing my head in, the things is everything worked beautifully for the first couple of days and now my new macbook pro will not detect the external display.
So far I've re-installed OSX and reset p-ram and no luck at all.
I called applecare yesterday and the chap found it quite odd that after inserting the install discs and arriving at the choose langauge screen the display was detected once again
'Oh, it's not a hardware issue then' he says,
'so am I to keep trying to re-install osx and then quit the installer after the choose language screen?'
But now that little trick no longer works andI'm back to not having my external display!!!
After searching around the web it looks like this is an issue that has not been solved yet :bang::thumbsdown:

Anyone out there in the same boat?

Cheers mate, I found that forum moments after posting the above thread and saw an entire thread dedicated to the bug, I wonder why google didn't pick it up?
Anyway, so far there is no known permanent fix, one chap had unticked 'Adjust brightness automatically in varied environments' or something similar in the energy saver system settings and I have tried this and it appears to work.
Lets see for how long, it seems all temp fixes work for a while and then cease. :thumbsdown:

At the moment though my samsung display is working dandy. Let's see for how long.

Yer, and then I'd be stuck with a lump that even after the release of fixes still wouldn't do what it was supposed to :lol:

I have had no issues since unticking 'Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes' in the display preferences.
That's what appears to be the bug. These notebooks are as new as October this year, more updates and fixes are still being written.

:lol: I had that misery for the last time over 3 years ago, trying to persuade a collection of PC's to do the jobs they were supposed to was indeed a world of misery.

Q: "Why doesn't my PC work properly?
A: "Your systems needs a graphics card/audio card HARDWARE update"
Q: "Ok, done that, why isn't it working now?"
A: "It needs more RAM"
Q: "Ok, done that, why does it still not work?"
A: "There is conflicts with the new graphics card"
Q: " Ok, what can I do about it?"
A: "Update the motherboard"
Q: "Are you sure that's going to work?"
A: "Erm......maybe but then you'll also need to buy a new casing as the new motherboard won't fit the case you have"
Q: "It's all a bit cack really isn't it?"
A: "Erm.....Windows Vista will be better, I promise, just make sure you have plenty of virus protection :|"

Then I bought an intel imac, never once had a problem in 3 years, not a single problem! Recorded over 24 tracks of audio fresh out of the box without fannying around and without a single hiccup, No anti-virus needed, not a single virus and not a single file lost or damaged.

I still have it, works, if it weren't for the unavoidable need for mobility I wouldn't have bought a macbook pro. It would have upgraded to the big daddy, a mac pro :D
