Macro + a 1.7x Teleconverter

Can't find the answer to this one so here goes!

If I use my 1.7x Teleconverter on my 70mm macro I end up with a 119mm macro lens, now factor in the 1.5 crop factor of my body thats a field of view equivalent to 178.5mm Macro lens.

However does the Teleconverter work like an extension tube is my lens still 1:1 or greater now?

Your lens is 1.7 to 1 at minimum focus distance. Forget the crop factor, that only determines how much of the subject is in the frame.

Cheers Bob, I suppose the answer is really simple, but if you don't ask you end up thinking about these things in bed when you can't sleep!

Yes, 1.7x magnification and (without wanting to complicate the issue) the field of view is equivalent to 178mm on full frame.
