Messing about indoors with the camera, these are not as close as I would like. I guess I need to invest in a decent macro lens for my Canon to get closer?

These were taken with a cheap Tamron 70-300 that allows macro from 180-300 which means the cwd is quite far from the subject.

Would something like the canon 100mm macro allow me to get closer?

Taken without flash in natural light, C&C welcome.

Ahhh, i remember warhammer!

The Tamron 70-300 isn't a 'true' macro lens. It focusses closely, but it's "1:2" (I think), which means the image on the sensor is half the size of the real life object. The Canon 100mm is 1:1, so the image on the sensor is the same size as it is in real life.

One cheaper option is extension tubes or a close-up filter (search for 'raynox' on here). You can use your current lens, but still get closer.

Good attempts with what you've got though, but a few look a little washed out, and could do with some tweaking in photoshop or similar to get the best out of them (y)

Thanks for the feedback :) I just trimmed and sharpened them so yes they will need playing with a little more.

I just did a quick search on the raynox 150 and 250, look kinda interesting...

Who sells them, couldn't find the 150 anywhere?

Cheers
