Macro closeup lens

Hi

i just want to try some macro photography.I was wondering about using macro close up lens to start with.Has anyone used it and are they ok to buy it from the ebay, which they are selling cheaper.I just want your opinions/advice before i spend my money.

This post doesn't talk about the sort of filters you probably have in mind, but it has a lot of other really useful information about doing close-ups and macros.
