Macro Flash?

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a macro flash for my camera (canon eos 1000d with tamron 90mm macro lens) for shooting bugs and that sort of thing. I don't have a very large budget, so what sort of thing should I be looking for? I'm thinking about buying second hand if I can get a good deal.

As it is a tamron lens, I'm not sure how to tell if a ring flash will fit my lens? Or can you get adapters?

Would it be possible for somebody to give me an idea of my options, and what I could likely get second hand, or something that is relatively cheap (preferably below £200).

You just get the right filter sized adapter for your macro lens, the ring flash just clicks onto that - that's how my Mr 14ex works anyway. Don't think your lens being a Tamron should matter. :)

I've had a couple of Marumi ring flashes similar to this http://www.future-cameras.com/marumi-macro-ring-flash-for-canon-drf-14c?language=en&currency=GBP and they have worked very well for the price. They work well with my Canon 100 L macro and you get a number of ring adapters to fit most lenses

I've since got a Sigma EM-140DG which is a twin flash in a ring design and can give you better lighting angles as you can use either 1 or both flashes at the same time for a 3d effect. This is a medium priced flash and cost around £320 and you can tell the difference in quality straight away.

The next step up is the Canon Mt-24 EX at roughly £500 but they are for more specialised lenses like the MP-E64.

I like the look of the sigma. Are they like sigma lenses in that you have to buy one of the right make of camera, or are they compatible with any brand?
 
I've had a look around on the internet, and I think I'd struggle to get one second hand. I've seen the marumi DRF14, does anyone have any experience with this, and how does it compare to the sigma?
