Macro lens for a D90

Hi guys n gals

Any advice greatly appreciated on a suitable macro lens for my D90. Looking to take pics of flies that I have tied for flyfishing.

I have a suitable stand/clip and lighting arrangement...just needing a proper lens.

Any thoughts?

I have the Nikon 105mm macro lens and I find it really good. But not cheap. Perhaps look at extension tubes if your budget is tight.

Don't laugh at my cat's whiskers, they were done when I was starting out fly tying.

Thanks for the replies thus far...budget not too much of an issue but in saying that I would rather not pay over the odds for a lens if a cheaper one will do the job just as well!

Would the lens the camera came with (18-105 f/3.5-5.6 VR) get me decent close ups of flies?

i would say whats all ready been sugested or tamron 90mm or sigma 105 i use a tamron 90mm with my sony and find it superb for the price

Tamron 90mm is good, as is the Sugma 50mm macro.

I have recently purchased the Nikkor 105 f2.8 vr micro and am loving using it. It is incredibly sharp has a great build quality and feel to it.
