Just wanted to pick the collective brains of the TP experts .

I have a Tamron 90mm f2.5 adaptall macro that I bought of here earlier this year and have had some good fun with it. I am looking to upgrade to a lens with 1:1 and AF ( as I also use the lens for a bit of portrait stuff and I am crap at MF in a hurry and the kids don't sit still :bang:) and have narrowed it down to either the Tamron 90mm or the Sigma 105mm.

Just wondered if there were any reasons that I have missed in searching t'internet that would push or pull me from one of these on a D300, or if there was any other lenses that are around the £200 mark s/h that I should be considering

Thanks

Nick

Have you had a look at the Sigma 70mm macro, will give the view of a 105mm lens on cropped format, nice for portrait work, see the review on the Photozone web site. Dont know if it is in your buget though.

yeah the sigma 70mm will give a nice flattering result and also do macro so it is a win/win situation. also what sort of macro do you want to shoot as any macro lens is good enough but to capture up close to bug eyes etc you'll need a decent working distance and focal length compared to shooting flowers which you dont need the working distance to be far away.

:agree: I have a Sigma 70mm f2.8 on a cropped sensor and it is great for both macro and portrait.

Thanks for that folks. It seems that at the moment the Sigma 70mm Macro is a bit out of my price range but I will keep my eyes peeled. Until then I think the Tamron 90mm is my prefered choice so will see what comes up

I would go for the 90mm Tamron, There are alot of people in the macro section use this and also has great reviews.

I would even put it above my 60mm Canon Macro tbh
