Macro - Lights or Lens

Newbie question

I have a Nikon D7000 body with a kit lens (18-105) and a 35mm, both DX lenses and I am experimenting with a combination of extension tube and reverse ring when creating images.

I don't have a macro lens or flash unit or a never ending budget so what's should I purchase first lights or lens?

Lens currently I am thinking would be either 105 Nikor or 105 Sigma. Any others I should consider?

Also could I combine the lens with a teleconverters?

At the moment I want to shoot more abstract work not bugs and flowers.

Nikon have a few Macro lenses, the 105 VR is pretty much the most expensive in the line up. It can take the Nikon TC's though.

Macro isn't something you could do with a standard kit lens, so I would go lens first!

I don't have much experience with Nikon gear, but I would assume the Nikkor one would be the preferred stack of glass.

Teleconverters effectively multiply the lens. If you have an 60mm F/2.8 lens, it would turn into a 120mm F/5.6 with a 2x teleconverter.

I would probably just bite the bullet, buy everything you needed in one go and have some fun!

It's a big bullet...
