Macro Photo's

Hi I have a sigma 105mm marco lens and was taking pics of a small sider. However i have seen a few great shots on here where you see the eyes etc. I was just wondering if i can get that as my attemps dont get nowhere near as close. Will i need some extra equipment??

Thanks for these replies but what would your set up be?/ I have the 105mm macro lens what else would you buy.

Perhaps link to an image that your referring to. I used a sigma 105 for macro with quite good success. Some people go for extreme macro using an mpe-65 ( I think that's the name) which is 5x life size compared to most macro lenses 1x.

Some use extension tubes and a Raynox 125 or 250 with their 105mm Sigmas I believe.

A good place for you to start is the macro forums in the "show us your macro rig sticky"

I have a Sigma 105mm F2.8 macro lens and use it with a set of Kenko extension tubes and a Sigma 1.4x teleconverter, although with that lot strapped to the front of the camera the DOF is minute. If you look on my Flickr page, the strawberry shot (although not actually a particularly good shot) was done with this set-up.
