Macro Ring Flash light usage

I have just bought a Macro Ring Flash light,YONGNUO MR-58, from ebay. i insert the battery and the test light works. when i attach it to my D90, it doesn't flash after i press the shutter.

is it something wrong with the light or i am being daft again that i miss some setting on my camera? hope someone can help and give me some advise. thanks in advance.

just for an update, it works now.......

before everyone laughs/shouts at me, i confess that i was stupid.

the reason why it didn't work....well....i put the flash the other way round on the hot shoe!!!

at least, this thread will remind people not to do the same daft thing like i did and i would say this budget ring flash is very good overall.

will save up more for the sigma one but from now on, this will do.

Easy mistake to make but easy to fix as well - the best kind! :)
 
You're not alone in making this kind of mistake, I did exactly the same when I was trying out my new Jessops flash cable, I'm only glad I spotted it before I took it back to Jessop's and said it didn't work!!
