Macro Ring Flash vs flash gun

For macro, which is the better choice? As im stuck.

Personally I much prefer using a flash gun on a bracket with diffusers (take a look at the "show us your macro rig" thread for inspiration for diffusers). It can be a bit unwieldy, but you can get nicely diffused flash light.
Ring flash is great at eliminating shadows and easy light, but I've never seen shots from ring flash with nice light. You can't diffuse a ring flash very easily.

Ring flash gives a really flat light, which on some shots is ok. You can on some adjust so only 1 tube fires, which gives a bit more depth.
But a well diffused and positioned flash gun will ultimately give better and more controllable results.

I have both, and the macro flash is awesome... It's the twin head flash, and made for the job....
