Macro vs Standard

I am looking for a second hand Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 (Canon fit) lens to use for portraits and weddings.

I have seen a number of lenses around but they are mostly the macro version. Would that be a problem or should I only be looking for the non-macro standard version of the lens?

Any other options instead? My budget is £300 max. (I already have a 70-200mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4 prime as well as the stock 18-135mm and a wide angle 10-24mm)

Thinking aloud - what about a Tamron 17-50mm? I see there's quite a few around at below the £300 mark.

If you are using it for portraits you could do with the 70mm rather than 50. Don't worry to much about the Macro element. It just means the lens has a close focusing ability to a point, it isn't a true macro lens.
