Hi I would like to try some macro but do not want to buy a new lens only to find I do not like it. Is there anyway I can use any of my current lens kit to do this I have

Sigma 10-20
canon 70-200 F4
1.4 extender
canon 17-55

I know I might need to buy some extra fittings but have no idea.

Thanks

You could always reverse mount or get extension tubes for the 17-55, just look on Fleabay. Cost ya like a tenner and you can see if macro is for you. I'd advise the extension tubes mostly as you have slightly more control. Another option is the Raynox 250 which is proving very popular round here, £35 and you can stick it infront of any lens to make it macro.

Close-up filter type lenses, a tenner on FleBay. A very cheap option, and you still have lens function, I have been playing with the 'close-up lens' recently with remarkable results IMHO.

I have a set of Kenko Auto tubes (maintain lens function) that are excellent, however, expensive at £90 compared with Raynox or Close-up lens.

Personally if I was doing it again I think the Ranox 250 is a belter! universal fitting . . . so I understand . . . from 52mm to 67mm and mataining lens function

Take a look at the GF1 and G1 threads, they are using Ranox 250 there, super stuff, I've also got a couple of pics on the Macro and close-up page using the £10 close-up lens.

Thanks have read the thread looks great, have a lens on ebay so when that sells will get one. Which lens do you think it would be best on?

Raynox is brilliant for £40, but tubes are better. Especially since you have just about the perfect lens to put them on - Canon 70-200L.

I would get a set of Kenkos. In fact, that's exactly the combo I use.
