Having owned my 60d for all of 3 days I decided to put Magic Lantern on it. Some interesting features. I like the HDR bracketing that's available as it should have been included by Canon in the first place IMO, same with the intervalometer settings aswell.

I've seen some pictures of lightening strikes captured by the movement feature that ML offers if it works that's amazing.

Just wondering what your most used, most useful feature of ML you use with regards to taking pictures?

the ability to have custom white balance setting outside of the presets on my 500D. i like around 5500K whilst taking indoor portraits with flash to add a bit of warmth to the subjects, i know there is a custom setting but the added flexibility and control is awesome. second most used would be aperture/iso/WB control whilst filming, very useful when i video on the odd occasions
 
Yep, it's great.

For the lightning you'll want the exposure difference rather than the frame difference but yes it does work!

I also love a silly little setting which is the ability to set mirror lock up on self timer only. No more messing with custom settings and it automatically switches off when you change to another drive mode.

Canon should really be talking to these people!
 
Focus peaking on the instant-playback I found it extremely useful. Also focus peak during video recording is another must-have.

I also used the FPS over-ride a few times for timelapse to reduce wear on the shutters.
 
Trap focus is superb. My inexpensive phoenix 2x teleconverter slows down focus of my EF 200 f/2.8 L drastically. With trap focus, I manually focus much faster, and the moment the focus is sharp the shutter clicks. It's simply brilliant :-)
 
I was under the impression that I would be able to see a processed HDR image in camera with magic lantern but don't seem to be able to. IS it possible and if so how?

No, ML doesn't do HDR in-camera.

Set FPS override to 1 FPS and record video to get timelapse :) Resolution is only 1080p though, whereas with proper sequences of photos, resolution is the camera photo resolution.

There is no way at the moment to get the flag removed from the camera, this means it takes a second or two longer to boot up the camera.

ML works by enabling bootflag, it's true on all cameras AFAIK. It should be very clear when you downloaded the nightly build that you cannot remove the flag from 5D3. On stable releases for 5D2, bootflag can be enabled/removed easily.

But yes, with bootflag enabled, it'll take slightly longer to wake up from sleep.

When you turn on trap focus and have your lens on manual focus mode, Magic Lantern takes over the shutter. The moment the lens senses that it has focus lock, it takes the picture. No lag, no waiting for the stupid slow human to press a button. It really is superb.

An interesting usage is demonstrated in a video linked up from the ML website. Point the camera at a road, and focus manually on an area where cars drive through. Turn on trap focus and wait. The camera will take a perfectly sharp picture of every car that drives through.
