Magnets and cameras?

I ride a motorbike and i'm looking to get a tank bag that attaches via magnets, it's the perfect size for my X100f. They're fairly strong magnets for holding the bag firm at speed.

But would they affect the camera in any way? Might be a daft question, but thought i'd ask.

I suppose that would depend on the camera.

Modern cameras may have components that are themselves small magnets, which may be upset by proximity to powerful magnets. I guess that it will be a case of asking the maker's service department if they know of any problems.

A Google search would suggest that magnets would be likely to only cause possible issues with the camera in use, not whilst powered down in a bag.

When I worked in an IT related role we went around removing fridge magnets from desktop pc's, they don't like each other, electrical devices and magnets!

Since destroying my old Canon camera due to vibration in a bag attached to my (push) bike I've long taken the view that any camera, lens or anything related/electronic should be in a bag carried on my body.

I loved that camera...

110% from experience,

While not a motorbike I regularly carried my Wista 45DX in a pannier, or across the handle bars while tripod mounted, on a racing bike. That took a toll,

Add a motor and far greater vibration, you need to have camera gear well dampened.

Depends on the motorbike.

Generally I find that a bicycle transmits a lot more shock and vibration through the frame than any larger motorcycle I have ridden.

I'd never put my camera into a bag that was mounted to the frame of my bicycle. In the past I was quite happy to stick my camera in paniers or top box of a sensible road bike.
