I'm off to the beach tomorrow

how can i best protect my camera from the sand especially during any lens changes?

the bag will be placed safely in the under-carriage of a pram but i'm just wary with it being a bit windy and any sand coming through.

As long as you are careful it should not be a problem. With regards to lens change try and do it where it is clean. Even better stick to one lens if possible.

If I have to change a lens whilst on the beach, I do it in the bag. my bag is big enough to do this, and because the flap is large, it gives me plenty of room to move.

Considering its a family outing - should i just take my kit lens? gives enough variety of performance or the bigger 70-300 tamron?

When we went on Tuesday I took my 18-135mm kit lens with the Nikon D80. It was okay.

However we went to the park to day and I took my 55-200 VR lens and I prefered this lens over the kit lens.

So you might be better of with the 70-300 lens.

if it's in a bag you'll be fine.

if you saw the state of my camera you'd never worry again...
