Making custom camera case Idea.

I was thinking about making a custom camera hard case for traveling on flights. I looked at some pre made but they were very expensive. The other problem was that they were only for carrying camera equipment and nothing else. I fly 21 hours so I would like to have the option to put a laptop and a few other items in it.

I was thinking I would use a hard suit case and put foam in it to fit my equipment. This way I could customize it to fit my needs.

My question is if anyone has done this and how did it work out. I would like to get all options good and bad and any ideas you would like to share.

Thank you.

Hi Shayne
I don't know if Calumet states side sell these but this could be a easy win for you

helpfully they don't list the size! but im sure a quick mail to customer services might answer that though.

Thanks for the link. Actually I have seen this before and was keeping it as a back up plan.

As I was thinking about how I would design this I was thinking about everything I would want to put in it and realized that I might want to put my backpack that I will use once I arrive at my location in it too. Then I thought why not just put the backpack loaded with the equipment all in a hard suit case a lay my tripod on the side. Seemed like the logical solution until I remembered my laptop needs to go inside as well.

Back to the drawing board....
