I was lucky enough to goto silverstone this weekend for the gt racing, unfortunatly with the family and my son had a bad ankle so unable to walk much of the track, anyway im rambling on to the question, fences? silverstone has some very high annoying (but for our safety, i think?) wire fences, and i took some that i feel were nice shots, ruined by the fence, yet ive seen others post (and im sure they were next to me when i took mine as there the same photos almost) and theres the fence has vanished? what did i do wrong and how can i make mine vanish next visit?

thanks for any tips
jason

Thanks, will note that in my little tips books (other togs must laugh at me when they see me take my tip book out of my camera bag and refer to notes to remind me how to do things) will goto my local tennis court to practice on the fence there too.

thanks for the reply , much appreciated.

Sounds a bit risky to me:)

You need to think outside the square on this one.

Carry a hacksaw.
It works well on metal or wooden fences and will fit neatly in the back of a camera rucksack.

Still thinking outside the square even further, make yourself up a dummy PRESS pass and jump over the fence.

Failing that, shoot wide open and close as mentioned.

Hope this helps.

lol, love suggestion 1, liking suggestion 2, but alas ive no kahunas so will stick to suggestion 3 (that seems to work pretty well :) )

Now those two suggestions I like :D just need someone to distract the marshalls and make up a dummy press bib and presto.....

Another alternative is.........Buy a longer lens

I wonder if I can still get by on my old NUJ card? - OK, so it's dated 1980 something, and I look a little younger :)

But apart from that........

If you're shooting moving subjects through the fence use a slower shutter speed & pan the camera. This blurs the fence (quite often removing it)

thanks for the tips, looking at a sigma 50 - 500 mm lens , just trying to justify the cost to myself :)
