I have two layers open in PS, the bottom layer is an image and the second layer is a typed word, how can I make the typed layer transparent so that the image just shows through the typed letters.
I've typed my wording, dragged it to the layer with the image and reduced the opacity so the image is showing through the letters. What I can't work out is how to seperate the word (with the image showing through to put it on another layer.
This is the type of effect I am after: Link to image
You use a clipping mask.
1. Dble click your image to change background layer to ordinary layer.
2. Make your type layer - I used Stencil Std @ 200pt.
3. Drag type layer below image layer.
4. Select image layer.
5. Go to Layer - Clipping mask make.
Magic
1. Create a layer underneath your image with desired text on it.
