Making your own 'kit' bundle?

Yes
Possibly not the most accurate section to put this in, but I suspect that there are more people who have bought equipment that look in this bit more often.

I have a 'budget' of possibly '1 box' to upgrade my current stuff.

Do you know of any suppliers of equipment that would entertain bundles of equipment together, possibly at a slightly reduced cost?

I am looking at the 50d, as the upgrade. I have the 28-135 IS, and the 70-300 IS (and 18-55+50)

I want extra reach, and faster glass, and better glass.
None of this is given by the 50d, I know. But, I am hoping that the better ISO handling of the 50d will be almost as good as a faster glass update for the 28-135. (in the way that I need it, depth of field is not something I am too concerned with, and will use the 50/1.8 in the few situations where I will care about it. Althoug, if I won the lottery, then I would by all 2.8 and not bother with this thread)

Better pixels don't make for a better picture, and just because the camera is better, it doesn't make the lens any better or worse IQ wise. But it might allow me a higher shutter speed.

There appear to be three kits for the 50d, none of which really excite me.

50d+ 17-85IS. The lens is meant to be OK, but not as good as the 17-55IS. I think I can survive without this at the mo, would prefer the 17-55

50d+ 18-200mm non IS. I wanted any long focal length lenses to have IS, so I really see no benefit to me at the moment (unless someone is going to tell me that the IQ is 100 times better than the 28-135 IS) (for the 70-300mm the IS is very useful AFAIC)

50d+ 17-85 IS & EF 70-300 IS, same as the first lens, and I have the second one.

So I am wondering whether there is anyone who might entertain a
50d+ 100-400 IS, and make a 'reduction' for a bundle?
I think that this lens will give me the extra reach I want, and is faster. Also, I am considering the 24-105 IS as a possible next upgrade in the future (for IQ purposes only), and would complement the 100-400 IS, just (I would prefer more overlap, but...)

Ideas? Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree?

I think your best bet is to ring up the shops, ask to speak to a manager, tell him what you want and ask him what can he do to help you.

They can only say no and you may just be surprised..

Helps if you are going to pay cash mind you.

kerso does stuff a bit cheaper and if you want one box to fool the missus then he might package it all together if you explained

Or go into a shop and ask

shop around, i found a good deal by ringing round. also quote quote's and see if they'll beat it
