Nice shot, Paul - bit of wingtip movement to show motion, vibrant colour and a space for the bird to fly into.

Mallards are often overlooked but they are a colourful bird, especially the male in its winter colours. You have caught this well Paul with nice wing blur. I would suggest however that the picture could stand a little more selective sharpening to bring out the detail a tad more, otherwise its a nice shot

I hate it when you hear them being called 'just a common mallard', they are really lovely birds!
