Hi,
New to the forum
thought i'd starting asking some q's to get aquainted with everyone.

I have been endlessly searching for a bag to hold all my gear and think i'm going to go for a Crumpler New Delhi. Does anyone have one/got any experience of them?

Cheers

Chris

Hi Martin
Any idea which size that equates to and what can you fit in it?

I have the previous incarnation of this bag. The XXL version. It doesn't hold as much as you think!
I've got it sat doing nothing now :(

Agree completely on the crappy capacity for its size, and the little pockets are way too stiff to get into easily. Mine got immediately returned, the Messenger Boy bags are basically the same, but have tardis-like properties in comparison.

looked at the back pack styles but it doesn't really fit with what I want.

Want to be able to carry a gripped d300 with a medium sized lens attached thta i can have easy access to, then have room for telphoto, couple of primes plus filter holder, filters and all the usual gubbins. I have been using a lowepro rezo 160 but it doesn't fit my new body&grip.

Why not buy a manbag from a high street chain and chuck all the stuff in there? I bought one a few weeks back that's a4 extended (whatever that means) and I can fit 2 pro bodies with 17-35 + 70-200 + 550ex. So pretty decent size. I just use a t-shirt as a divider & I put the fifty in a beanie, and flash in it's pouch.

It all works well & so far I don't think anyones noticed I'm using it as a camera bag.

Have you had a look at the Crumpler Company Gigolo 9000? I've got one and it holds (virtually) all my gear bar the D90 kit lens and SB900 flash. It holds D700 (with attached 70-300VR lens), D90 body, 28-75 & 18-35 zooms, 50 & 35mm primes, plus several boxed filters, remote shutter release, memory cards, batteries & charger. And my 13" macbook slips in the back too  The main camera is well supported and easy to access, pictures here give a decent idea:

Available for about half the stated RRP in quite a few places.

hmm, that looks ideal in terms of functionality, just not sure about the bulbous look...

yeah, i did look at that and was going to put billingham dividers in to support my kit, but when i priced everything up i figured i'd be just about the same price buying a crumpler (which is purpose built and looks just as good). Hence the delhi.

Crumplers don't look anything like a street bag. In the flesh they are quite clearly 'camera bags'.

If your not okay with my minimal padding then...

1) Buy a roll mat/sleeping mat from argos (£6?).
2) Cut it into shape for back, front & sides.
3) Stick together to form the 'box' & cover interior in fabric if you wish.
4) stick in your dividers.

OR

Buy a padded box from fleabay or similar for about £20

I disagree on the crumpler looking like a cam bag, having said that I quite like your idea - I could have a go at building an internal divider system with that stuff and it should all fit nicely! Bravo
