Excellent :)

Meeting another TP member at weekend to collect, so just need to work out how to separate my existing head and swap them over from there
 
Just unscrew the exisitng head in the usual anticlockwise direction, but watch out there may be small securing grub screws

They do up from underneath the tripod plate that sits on top of the central column which the head sits on, they are there to stop the head rotating.

To confirm my earlier statement
Because the head attachment plate is flat with a standard 3/8" screw, any flat-based head can be mounted on an MDeVe - be it a Manfrotto's 303 or 303SPH, 360Precision, fluid video head, a photographic three-way or ball head

I would look underneath where the head meets the tripod just to make sure there are no locking screws then if you look carefully around the circumference of the flange of the head where that also meets the tripod you might see a small hole.

Using a screwdriver or other 'pointy' thingy just insert that into the hole and use it as a lever to slacken the head before you unscrew it.

Easy...when you know how!

3 or 4 retaining grub screws undone, sharp twist anticlockwise and unscrewed, repeats in opposite direct

This is the manfrotto 804RC2 head. i found it about the best of its type. Far easier to control the camera position with handles than knobs

Pondered on that style, but liked the 460,

I have a pistol grip head ,had one with knobs (not the one your looking at) and rejected them. This one allows 360 degree turn, ideal for pano shots which need to overlap where the markings come in handy. Tilts up down -sideway for vertical shots and has quick release plate also will take heavy camera weight,plus bubble level. Some heads don't have all this so be careful.Its cheaper than what you are looking at about £50

All i can say is I highly recommend it

To give some idea I can put my D300 +battery +battery grip +en-el4a battery+ sigma 70-200mm lens (5.5lb weight total) , have the tripod head pointing down at 45% ( only angle tried at) and it didn't droop. No worries either at a greater angle pointing down. This is something to think about as well



load capacity 3kg on the Manfrotto 460 head
load capacity: 4.00 kg on the manfrotto 804RC2 head

So on the 460 head I would be working on close to the max load it could take

The 460 allows 360 panino shots too, bought it now so, will found out soon enough:lol:
