Ive been thinking of getting this tripod at xmas to replace my Velbon DF-40 which was the tripod i bought when i got my D5000 as a start off.

Theres also the 3 way head to consider but after getting a Hama tripod with with a ball head through my Digital Photo Mag subscription i like the ball head type.

Any feedback on the Manfrotto in its various guises? Is it the best i can get for this price or are there any others to consider? I have seen the Red Snapper name mentioned a few times.....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got those legs with the 3 way head, I preferred a ball head so have a Giottos on it now. Good legs, light and easy to carry, the only things I would change are a bit longer legs (I'm 6'3 and don't much like using the centre column) but that of course means the 055 range which are bulkier to carry and on the 190DXB the centre column doesn't flip horizontal like some of the 190 series.

That said its a great lightweight tripod and lives in the car with me.
 
Thanks for the feedback and i think i will be going for it but i'll decide on which head in the store. My local Jacobs have it for £99 so it means i can pop in and try it 1st.

I have the 190 Xprob with 486 RC2 head, so similar to your first link. I believe the 496 Rc2 is the newer version of my ball head.

I really like the combo - does everything I hoped it would and I have never thought twice about taking it with me.

The head is fairly solid, I haven't noticed it slipping due to the weight, though did notice vibration when I used it with my 40D, 70-200, 2x tc and 1.4x tc's stacked on softish mud.

Ive seen the Xprob on Jessops site and its £20 more. Whats the difference? As i say above im gonna go into Jacobs and try the tripod and take it from there.

Hmm, that would be bumping the price up by around £60..... I'll have to have a look in store and make my decision. The extra money is a Heliopan or B&W 10 stop filter.

I have just been reading a old copy of AP magazine and Ffordes photographic have some 190xpro in at £95 on special offer is this a good tripod to get

Jessops are doing an online exclusive on the XProB priced at £88! Now i have a dilemma. Do i go for the XDB with 496 head for £100 or do i go for the XProB and head for approx £145? Does the XDB still rotate horizontal? It doesnt say on the Manfrotto site but i think i read it somewhere that the pro just does it quicker....
I have reserved the ProB to collect tomorrow and will get the 496 head but would like some feedbback before if poss.

Well guys, i took heed off something ive been told on here a few times and went for the better option. I got the XProB and the 496RC2 ball head but due to getting a code ended up getting the tripod for £88.40 and the ball head for £46.75! I just had to click collect at store and went to Jessops this morning to collect them. Ive just unboxed them now and i can see the big difference between it and my Velbon DF-40 which was £25. The ball head is very well made and i love the interchangeable column on the tripod. The whole setup just drips quality. Thanks for the help guys.
