Yes
I am looking to buy a used manfrotto 190xprob and probably a 804rc2 to use mainly for macro/closeup and landscape/HDR/Pano. I have seen a used 190prob on ebay with a 141RC. How do the 2 tripods differ? is one better than the other?

Probably not a great deal of different, the 190Pro is just the older version of the 190xpro from what I can see, weight and size seem roughly the same. The difference with tripods that you'll notice is between carbon and aluminium, the aluminium tripods are heavy, about 2kg compared with just over 1kg

It doesn't sound much, but carry my 055 around, I certainly notice that I'm carrying it

Difference could be the the central column, one is probably the bog standard type and the other could be the one that can be used horizontally by pressing a button in the end

I think it is the central column that can be switched to the horizontal plane in the 'x' model. I have the 190XPROB and the feature is very useful. Used it a few times. It allows you to get the camera inches off the ground, as the column is no longer in the way.

You never guess where i went to look for info? The manfrotto site. Genius me...;)

Newly redesigned, the 190XPROB makes the famous Manfrotto-patented horizontal centre column feature even easier to use. Now, by extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung round to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself, so switching between framing and positioning setups is more convenient than ever. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks themselves have also been greatly improved.

thank you, I went on the UK manfrotto site and searched for the obviously older PROB but it did not come up with anything only the new XPROB model. Has anyone used the older model, would I be missing much it sounds like I can still use the column horizontally maybe not as simple to make it that way? The clips on the legs are they greatly improved?

I have also seen a used Giottos MTL3361 which is an older model but the centre column can move through 180 degrees, how do these compare in quality and stablilty to Manfrotto, I cant find anywhere locally that stock them? are they good value for money?
