manfrotto 234rc head - qr question

I am looking into getting a monopod head & am considering the above head -

question is with the quick release head part - is this detachable?

By this I mean are you able to disconnect the whole qr bit (know you can remove the qr plate) which would enable you to put it on another tripod/monopod? Or is the whole qr thing welded to the basic 234 head?

Its one piece with the qr plate the only deatchable bit, However the 234rc has a standard tripod thread so it wouldnt be a problem to swap it say between a monopod and tripod. You can also just buy extra qr plates for different cameras. I am actually struggling to understand what the reason for needing the actual 234rc head unit to break down even further than it is. It is simply a 2 piece 90 degree swivel with a locking nut.

Thanks for clarifying that for me - basically I was wondering if I could use the qr part of the head to put elsewhere on top of another head to turn that also into a qr system.

Afraid not, the only way would be to buy two. A little pricey. Do be aware the 234rc is very well made and adds a fair bit of weight to a monopod which I like but some may not.

THIS is what I think the OP is after - it screws onto any tripod or head and converts it to the Manfrotto RC2 QR system.

Ah ok,without the 90degree tilt then ? Its just that because the OP specified the 234RC then I assumed the 90 degree was needed also. (Its an absolutely fab system btw and I wouldnt have a monopod without it )
